Art comes to the riverfront

Rocky and friends hit Riverfront Park one sunny weekend in June 2016 to add a floral-inspired yet modern mural to a row of formerly blank cement panels. "I wanted to design something simple and easy for the eyes to take in. My hope is, when people stroll past this wall mural, it will be a pleasant experience and also a way for us to step back from our daily jobs and agendas. I’d love to see more patterns and bright colors like this in Harrisburg."

"The actual act of painting the wall mural only took us about 10 hours. The fun part for me was spent in the planning phases and over-analyzing how to make this a quick easy installation. I created two cardboard stencils sturdy enough to be repeated ten times each. They had to be designed in such a way that they could fold up for transportation and fit in my car. Special tools such as a hook on a painters’ pole, had to be created to lift the stencil from the ground to a person standing on the ladder. I did a lot of tests ahead of time to ensure all the tools I made would function the way I intended them to."
