Call for artists

The Downtown Improvement District, partnering with Sprocket Mural Works, is happy to announce their summer beautification project - Art Outside the Box. This project will add artwork to 14 traffic signal cabinets around downtown. We’re excited to see what everyone will create, and grateful for your help and talent brightening downtown!

The artwork should highlight things that make downtown and Harrisburg great and it should enhance and brighten the city.  Have fun, we look forward to seeing what you will create.

Selected artists will recieve a $100 stipend, supplies will be provided (paint and limited brushes).

Artwork details

The traffic signal cabinets are in essentially cubes, the front of each cabinet measures 24 inches wide by 48 inches tall with each side measuring 17 inches wide by 48 inches tall. Artwork should be on three sides, the back of the boxes may be painted also, but should not be a focus of the artwork, as it is obscured.
